What makes someone think they are psychic, how can you tell if you are really psychic?
Psychics with a strong ability, when asked this question, generally talk about various strange experiences they've had, often from childhood. These include such things as:
* Encountering ghosts
* Determining auras
* Possessing dreams that came true
* Prevailing deja vu
* Cognizing things about people they've just met as if they'd known them for years
* Feelings of 'connection' with places or people
* Experiencing knowing who is calling as soon as the telephone rang
* Being knowledgeable things straight away about a place never before visited
There are lots of other similar factors and experiences that are also considered indicants of being psychic. It might be difficult to pin down exactly what being a psychic actually is. However, a very generalized definition could be:
An Individual who provides information, on a specific issue, that they were not privy to, or consciously aware of prior. Even then, people can be split into two camps:
Such an 'unconsciously insightful' person may notice emphatically what someone's mood is, even if faced with a complete stranger. They might even pick someone from a crowd by their mood, using body language. Similarly, they might gain impressions from a room, its decoration, furniture, layout and so on, that could tell them something about its history and current and former inhabitants (which could be relevant in haunting cases). All of this would be unconscious, giving rise to the idea that was incurred by a sixth sense. Real psychics, can often perform and demonstrate more of a 6th sense, by for example being able to provide a psychic phone reading where they cannot view anything, moos, surroundings body language yet can still tell you an awful lot that they picked up on a psychic level.
If somebody thinks they are psychic but are not, it should be assert able to tell with ease. In substance, if the information is being communicated by normal means as each 'natural paths' for information is successively closed, so any apparent 'psychic ability' will diminish. So, someone not sure if they're psychic, could try giving readings face to face with a subject in their own home (surrounded by their possessions) followed by a similar session but at a neutral venue, by email or by phone trying psychometry as an aid. So that body language is eradicated As an aid. Then they do readings without any contact at all, other than a request from someone by letter or email. If the readings become less and less accurate, as the possibility of any natural feedback is repressed, it may indicate that the psychic is unconsciously using natural processes, to some extent. Finally, the psychic could try to see if they can beat random fixed odds, like in Xener cards, to a significant degree with no human subject involved in the least or in any way visible. One false positive to be noted however, is that many really good psychics do really badly with things like Xenner card tests.They fly against the mathematical odds even by being so bad at them! Unfortunately, running long tests with things like Xener cards is boring and your dynamic psychic side may drift off or even rebel. Some people think this may affect the ability of real psychics to perform well.
